Fishing stretch of 6 km with divided zones for fly fishing and spin fishing. It was previously authorized to fish with shrimp, but it has been banned. Worms were allowed when I was there. There is a campsite with cabins in connection with the river. Good restaurants are available and you can get your salmon frozen, so they can keep fresh to the return journey.

The petrol station sells fishing licenses for Kjerrafossen. There are no boats here, as it is incredibly dangerous to travel too close to the water and in particular on the water. Half-day tickets can be purchased. It is advisable to order cards well in advance. I do not like fishing here as I have seen too many "jerk fish".

Here are cabins and space for a few caravans. House for 12 people for rent. You can fish from a boat and a 12 m long floating bridge. This stretch fishes well early in the season.

In Holmsfossen you can rent a boat and anchor so you can reach the good fishing spots. You need good arm strength to row the boat and pull a 50 kg iron block out of the water. Be careful not to get too close to the waterfall, as this will pull the boat into the depths. My son and I caught 3 small salmon in half a day in the falls. We fished with worm, which is allowed. The neighboring boat caught a lot of salmon in a few hours, but they also used shrimp, which is forbidden. Pickled prawns in red can be purchased at the nearby gas station. I asked if it was not risky to fish with shrimp if now the fishing control came. The whole bottom of the boat was colored red. They showed us a liver pâté and a glass of beetroot, then that case was clarified with red color in the boat. They're damn cunning the Norwegians. Or what?
The latest news that I have heard or read is that two rivers - the Drammen river and the Numedalslågan - have been granted a dispensation to fish with shrimp. Investigate it yourself before you start fishing. |

The campsite is located 5 km west of Grong. Fishing stretch is approx. 2.5 km. There are stretches for fly fishing and spin fishing, which are divided into time intervals. Boat with "Klipper" can be rented. Camping site is situated near the river where you can camp in the caravan or tent. The price of camping in tent was included in the fishing license. In 2001, the operation of salmon fishing shifted to a more exclusive fishing for "Rich men". So now there are other "balls" in the soup. I have read a report from June 2004 that their fishing license will cost more than DKK 1,000 per day. So be sure to inquire about prices before you order fishing license.
My 10 kg salmon was caught out from the big "rock", which is seen to the left of my head. But the picture is composed of two images. The background is taken an early misty morning and me with the salmon later this morning on the lawn. |

The campsite is located very centrally in the fishing areas and almost in the middle of town Stranda. The campsite also sells fishing permits for other vald. The fishing season is from June, 15. to August, 31. The river is late summer depending on rainfall.
The hotel is also a good option for accommodation. It is located right next to the river and at a very good curve with deep holes, where several salmon always take up residence. If you stand on the cliff, you can see the salmon in the "Gin clear water". Read more about Stranda Hotel on the hotel's website. |

Fishing license for Öyensåa you buy from Arnstein Berg. It is the first farm on your right after you have crossed the river on the road 715 towards Osen. Fishing licenses can not be ordered in advance. See map here. It is also possible to camp on the field in front of the barn, where there are toilet and shower. Compost is also at the barn, so digging worms is possible. You can rent a wooden hut - "Stabbur" - for 2 persons and a room with 4 beds, but then ordered in advance. To fish in the river your legs should be in good order, as there is little climb up and down by high rock slopes. To give you an idea of where the river is located, run by E6 170 km north of Trondheim toward Steinkjer. In the small town of Asp 6 km north of Steinkjer turn left of the road No. 17 toward Berre. Go 35 km. In Berre turn left of the road No. 715, after 1 km you will see the river, and immediately followed by the farm to the right.
The other two rivers Ferga and Årgårds river, I have visited, but not tried to fish in. Fishing license can be purchased at Sjøåsen Hotel and Holmset Gård Camping. You can also stay at these two locations. |

The log cabin in the picture is managed by Danmarks Sportsfiskerforbund. See the fishing magazine from 1991 no. 2, 3 and 10. The log cabin is located 100 km north of Lillehammer towards Ringebu (E6). In Ringebu, drive northeast of Friisvejen and after approx. 50 km you get to Storfjellseter Gjestegård. This fantastic (Café) is now called Storfjellseter Gjestegård is a living museum with 300 years behind it. A wonderful meal of lamb, elk, reindeer or mountain trout can be served. Home baking for coffee and a sumptuous breakfast table. You will also find accommodation with shower. All at very reasonable prices. Mona and Anders have retired and the new owner Ingvald has renovated the Café and the place is called Storfjellseter Gjestegård. The website is probably closed, but they are on Facebook.
At the café, the road goes to the right and down through Imsdalen towards the cabin. Stop first and go to the cafe to buy fishing licenses for the area. In connection with the café there is also a campsite with cabins. Be careful when driving on Friisvejen, even in summer there is snow, and around the corner there are sheep and goats on the road and they are sunbathing. You can find a selection of the Imskort here based in Ringebu. Follow the red thread to the cottage. |

You buy a fishing license in the old pub "Kafe Elgen" at the harbor in the city itself. It should be easy to find, because there are not many houses in the city. You fish twice a day, and that is when the tide comes with the salmon. The website for Kafe Elgen in Salsbruket, Norway appears to be closed.

Wisløff Camping is located 8 km from the confluence between Altaelva and Eibyelva, where you can start fishing in Eibyelva.
Odd Aune Sport is located on the outskirts of Alta in Bossekop. They also sell fishing licenses for the Alta River. Ask at the store about the good places, but first inquire about the prices in the Alta River and be sure you can buy fishing licenses for the river. |

We drove from the outlet in the fjord Hellesylt up along the river towards the town of Hauge. Approx. 2 km ahead was a kiosk or café right where a bridge crosses the river at Stadheim. Here we bought a fishing license and were allowed to fish in the river for 6 hours for 200, - NOK. Later I learned that Aasengarden also has fishing waters further up the river. But then you have to keep an eye out for that brown bear.

Contact my sponsor: e-mail: Terje Aarskaug for further information.A local net fisherman is looking for small trout for "Rake Fish". A specialty in Norway |
Your own boat belongs to the säter cottage. Jan and Terje are ready to row out The living room in the cozy new restored säter cottage by the mountain lake |
Haukedalen Fish Holidays can offer fishing in Haukedalsvandet which is famous for its beautiful trout in Norwegian called aure. In Haukedalselven fisheries can also be offered for 3 zones max 6 rods with giant, fine trout which is completely red in flesh and in top condition. Here you can fish with fly, worm or spin. Moreover, there are also three boats available to the fishery with lifejacket.
Would you like to visit the site please contact Terje. Accommodation in the huts can be found here. An alp-hut 600 meters above sea level. In addition you run the 1.5 km up to the lake on the tractor with your gear. The last 500 meters you go by rowing boat over to the hut and then carried the luggage 100 meters up to the hut. The second cottage is located down at the farm where the approach by car is possible. Second chance for fish is 40 km to the sea for cod and saithe and 50 to 100 km for salmon in rivers. The starting point for the trip to Förde is Oslo. From Drammenvejen E-18 run through E-16 toward Hønefoss 60 km. Here you have really two options to get to Lærdal. If you choose to continue along E-16 over Filefjellet takes you through Nes, Bagneres, Fagernes and Lærdalsøyri. A distance of 280 km. It is the fastest way. We took this on the outward journey. If you choose the second option, you must take in Hønefoss rigsvejen 7 over Hallingdalen toward Gol. In Gol you take into the rigsvejen 52 over Hemsedalsfjellet toward Lærdal. Before coming to Lærdal you find E-16 again. Her you turn left toward Lærdalsøyri. A distance of 315 km. The most beautiful way. We took it on the home tour. Do you have some hours available and wants a break, you should visit the Norsk Villaks Senter in Lærdaløyir: From Lærdal you must cross over Lærdalsfjorden with a ferry from Fodnes to Mannhiller. Sailing time 15 minutes cost NOK. 92.00 for car and driver plus NOK. 31.00 per adult. Pendulum Speed. Run from the ferry at rigsvej 5 toward Sogndal 10 km. In Sogndal run left onto rigsvej 55 toward Hella 36 km. Here, take the ferry for 10 minutes sailing to Dragsvik price NOK 44.00 for car and driver plus NOK. 19.00 per adult. First ferry at 06.00 last ferry at 23.45 in summer. In Dragsvik run right over Gaularfjellet on rigsvej 13 to Förde 100 km. It is a national tourist route with fine scenery and 8 % increases of approx. 10 km. 30 km before Förde you shall find Haukedalsvandet. Then approx. 11 km into the valley to get to the fishing water. A map of the site can be found here. Total from Oslo to Haukedalsvandet 470 km. Driving time approx. 8 hours, with some small accommodation and ferry crossing. Let me mention a second road from Sogndal to Förde if there are some ski buddies who want to ski in the winter. In Sogndal run to the right of rigsvej 5 toward Skei. In Skei run to the left of E-39 toward Förde. 10 km before Förde in Moskog run to left toward Haukedalen 20 km. Please note NOK 150.00 toll on this route. But you save the ferry Helle - Dragsvik. For all Dane with sensitive skin. There is not the mosquito and "knot" (a tiny little fly) plague as in northern Norway because we are in the west country with fresh winds from the North Sea. If you will secure yourself, so buying mosquito repellent in Norway, it works. It does not the Danish mosquito repellent. |
