I have searched all over the web for spare parts for Shimano fishing reels - but to no avail. I got almost the same answer everywhere: "We don't have it. It can no longer be obtained. There is no service for Shimano fishing wheels in Denmark. After 3 years you can no longer buy spare parts. Throw the reels away - buy a new one new". On e-bay you can be lucky to buy a used reels, but it also costs money. At eReplacementParts, which has almost everything, that answer emerged:
Unfortunately, this part isn't available any more at eReplacementParts. This could be because: The manufacturer doesn't make this part any more. There are no substitute parts made by the manufacturer to replace this part. There is no longer any way for us to find this part and stock it in our warehouse.
We would love to help you find the part you need, but our call center agents will, regrettably, be unable to assist you with tracking it down. However, you may still be able to locate the part you need by trying the following: Using a search engine to type your part number and see if other retailers still have this part in stock Visiting online stores such as eBay and finding sellers that have this part. Trying retailers and repair stores in your local area to see if they have the part in their inventory. Talking to a local repair technician, who may have the part you need, or may be able to repair your existing part. Reaching out to the manufacturer of your product to see what their recommendations are for replacing this part. |
After my accident with the Shimano TwinPower 4000FA - broken bail assembly - I put my Shimano Symetre 2500RI Fishing Reel into use the next day. You must always have an extra fishing reel with you, when fishing with Shimano tackle. Believe it or not! After a few casts at the same place where we were the day before, the same thing happened, the bail assembly broke on the Shimano Symetre 2500RI Fishing Reel.

I am convinced that these Shimano fishing reels are not suitable - read durable - for fishing with Fireline, Spiderwire, braided line or similar lines, which are not elastic. Therefore, a good tip would be to put the bail assamply back with your hand when the bait has hit the water. That's not my way of fishing. Especially in river fishing, where there are many trees, branches and stones in the water. (Stensån in Sweden). Here you have to be very quick to return the bail assamply - even if the bait has not entered the water yet - otherwise you will be stuck in the trees on the other side of the stream.

After several accidents with Shimano Fishing Reels and no service in Denmark anymore, I have decided to try these fishing reels. They are available in 7 different sizes ranging from DC1000 to DC7000. Prices vary with size from DKK 83 to DKK 124. Find yours Fishing Reels here.
I ordered the DC1000 wheel on March 26, 2024 and I received it on April 6, 2024 in good condition at the agreed price. I promised to give a review of the product once the wheel had been received and I had tried fishing with it. As the water level is in Varde Å now, it will probably take some time before I can get to the stream. DC1000 fishing reel DC4000 fishing reel
If I am satisfied with the DC1000 fishing reel, I will buy one more and in that case it will be DC3000 or DC4000. It will be used for turbot fishing on the West Coast in May.
You have to see this in light of the fact that I have lost faith in Shimano wheels. If you buy a Fishing Reels for DKK 3,000.00 or more, you probably expect the Fishing Reels to be serviced if the accident happens. But a Fishing Reels for less than DKK 100.00 can be discarded after a season of fishing if the bail assembly breaks. |

When evaluating these fishing reels, one must take into account what they cost. You can't judge them with wheels for 4 - 5 thousand kroner. Here's my take: Great design. A nice wheel with a nice wooden handle. But a lot of slack in the handle, where it sits on the square shaft that goes into the wheel housing. A little slack in the coil and in the bail assembly. Now we have to see how important it is when fishing.
